Personal Power Around the World
Ghana
POPLI-Ghana is based in Effiduase Senior High School and Goshen Royal School in Kumasi, Ghana. Ms. Evelyn, lead mentor of POPLI-Ghana, empowers students in Girls Taking Action and Boys of Hope about their personal power.
Liberia
Monrovia, Liberia is the newest addition to the POPLI-International chapters, launching in June 2024. Based in Korto J. P. Vogar School, Girls Taking Action is home to dozens of students.
POPLI-Liberia’s impact reaches far beyond one school. POPLI sponsors five students in their fourth year at the University of Liberia Medical School by providing access to textbooks and technology that is crucial to their studies. Our goal is to provide SmartBox technology to each of our international chapters.
Kenya
Established in 2022, POPLI-Kenya is based in Kandaria Secondary School and LWAK Girls’ School. These Girls Taking Action Chapters mentor middle and high school girls every week.
POPLI sponsors four high school students at Kandaria Secondary School. In Kenya, public education ends after eighth grade. Continuing education in high school costs approximately 500 dollars a year, which is a deterrant when families average an income of 200 dollars a month.
Guatemala
In 2010, Lucrecia Godoy launched POPLI-Guatemala after meeting Dr. Verna. The Asociación de Superación Educativa hosts a robust chapter of Girls Taking Action where 150 girls are mentored weekly.
POPLI-Guatemala is led by ten dedicated lead mentors, lovingly called “godmothers.” The Girls Taking Action curriculum has been translated into Spanish to promote the positive transformation of lives.
