New Voter Rally: Third Annual Restoration of Civil Rights Day

Monday, October 28, 2024 | 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Capri Theatre | 2027 W Broadway, Minneapolis, MN 55411

The Power of People Leadership Institute (POPLI), in collaboration with state and local leaders and the League of Women Voters, is proud to celebrate the 3rd annual Restoration of Civil Rights Day, empowering and educating new voters across Minnesota. November 5th will be the first presidential election for 55,000 second-chance voters in Minnesota.

In 2021, Vice-President Nominee Governor Tim Walz signed a proclamation declaring October 28th as Restoration of Civil Rights Day, marking a significant milestone in restoring voting rights to formerly incarcerated individuals. As part of the celebration, POPLI will provide a New Voter Training, where participants will learn how to locate their nearest polling location, how to read a ballot, and understand the electoral process.

We here at POPLI are excited about the 3rd annual Restoration of Civil Rights Day. It’s exciting for us because we work with a lot of ex-offenders, and some of those men and women now have their civil right to vote restored. That’s exciting news. There are still states around the country who don’t allow it (second-chance voters). We’re excited for it. We’re going to keep on celebrating it.
— Brother Shane Price, co-founder of POPLI
